A published per-square-foot number is only meaningful if the thickness, mix, reinforcement, subgrade scope and flatness tolerance are all defined. Quoting one without those assumptions sets a false expectation that gets corrected — upward — after award.

Slab thickness

5", 6", 7", 8" or heavier sections change concrete volume and subgrade prep directly.

Concrete PSI & mix design

3,000–5,000+ PSI, fiber blends, shrinkage-compensating or low-w/c mixes all move unit cost.

Reinforcement

Rebar mats, dowel baskets, WWF, macro or steel fiber each carry different material and labor loads.

Subgrade & base

Lime or cement stabilization, select fill, vapor barrier and proof rolling are often the biggest variables in Texas soils.

Floor flatness

Standard, FF/FL specified, or superflat defined-traffic floors require different equipment and crew size.

What information do you need to price a slab?+

Structural and architectural drawings, the concrete specification section, the geotech report, site plan and the required schedule. With those we can produce line-item pricing.

Does a thicker slab always cost more?+

Thicker sections use more concrete, but a properly designed thicker slab may reduce reinforcement or joint treatment. The total scope matters more than any single variable.

How much does flatness add?+

Higher FF/FL requirements add equipment, crew and placement-strip planning. The premium depends on the specified numbers and the building layout.

Do prices change with concrete market conditions?+

Yes. Cement, aggregate and admixture pricing move, and bids carry a validity period. Early award and locked release schedules protect against escalation.

Can I get a budget number before design is complete?+

We can provide conceptual budget ranges for planning based on comparable scopes, clearly identified as budget-level and subject to the variables on this page.
